He threatened to impose reciprocal taxes if he is reelected in the 2024 presidential elections. Trump previously terminated India's preferential market access to the US, citing unfair market conditions. In an interview, he highlighted the high tariffs imposed by India and expressed his desire for a matching tax. Trump argued that if India charges high tariffs, the US should do the same in return.
