At Delhi's RML, India’s first OPD for transgenders
India's first dedicated OPD for the transgender community has been inaugurated at Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia hospital. The initiative aims to provide better access to healthcare services for transgender individuals, who often face discrimination and discomfort when seeking medical treatment. The OPD will offer services such as endocrinology, psychiatry, plastic surgery, dermatology, urology, and paediatrics. The facility will also have gender-neutral/transgender washrooms. The OPD will be available every Friday from 2 pm to 4 pm, with a separate registration counter for transgenders. The launch of the OPD was prompted by the low number of transgender individuals seeking treatment in government facilities.
