After 2 months, India resumes e-visas for Canadians

India has resumed e-visa services for Canadians, which were halted in September due to a diplomatic dispute. The dispute arose from Canadian claims of Indian involvement in the killing of a Khalistan separatist. India had expelled Canadian diplomats and Canada responded by closing in-person consular services in certain cities. The resumption of e-visas is seen as a step towards de-escalation as both countries seek to resolve the crisis. However, India's foreign minister reiterated concerns about Canada's support for Khalistan radicalism. The decision to resume e-visas coincided with Canadian PM Justin Trudeau attending a virtual G20 summit where he listened to Indian PM Narendra Modi's opening remarks.
