Long desertion, communication refusal ground for divorce: SC

The Supreme Court exercises omnibus powers under Article 142 of the Constitution to annul a marriage when a spouse has long deserted the other and refuses to respond to attempts for reconciliation. In the case of Prakashchandra Joshi, who has been separated from his wife since Feb 2011, the court granted a divorce decree.
